Accelerated Math Program

The Accelerated Math Program is designed for students in grades 5-8. Select students from each grade level participate in the course. The purpose is to provide a challenging curriculum for those who excel in mathematics. The lessons correlate with the Common Core State Standards. Students explore mathematical concepts, discover mathematical ideas, and become motivated, active problem solvers. They communicate mathematically and utilize higher order thinking skills while engaging in cooperative groups to obtain solutions to math problems with real life connections. In addition, technology is incorporated to foster and deepen the understanding of concepts being learned in class. The curriculum in grades 5-7 helps students better transition into the Algebra I program which is implemented in grade 8. After students complete the Algebra I course, they are then eligible to take the Algebra Exit Exam which, if passed, enables them to move ahead to the next offered mathematics class as they enter their freshman year of high school.
