Dear Solomon Family--

What a wonderful evening Friday night was! We are so grateful to our volunteers and community members that joined us for International Night, celebrating each other, our cultures, and our diversity.

  • Starting Monday, June 6, Door #1 will be closed until further notice due to demolition and reconstruction of the concrete area leading up to the main entrance. Rooms 107 (1st grade) and 108 (Pre-K): All entry and dismissal will happen through Door #3 (next to the basketball courts) through the end of the school year. If you need to enter the building, you will be directed to go to Door #5 (on Granville); if security or office staff is not available to greet you there, please call our main office at 773-534-5226 for assistance. Thanks for your flexibility!

  • Calling all campers! Solomon Summer Camp is open for registration! We are hosting 12 days of programming for campers (current grades of K-3) and camp counselors (grades 5-7) this summer. This programming is free, and if you are looking for enrichment activities for your child this summer, I encourage to see if this option works for you. Registration will be capped at 10 campers and 2 camp counselors per grade level. Please see our fliers below for more information and to sign up for this summer programming with Solomon staff. Registration closes June 14.

  • We have one more Tot Time for prospective Pre-K parents (room 108 with Ms. Coppa) on Monday, June 14, at 2pm.

  • You can always find our calendar of events at solomon.cps.edu. We have a busy week with our 8th grade luncheon, 8th grade graduation, "V" for "Visit Day" in the ABC countdown where students in grades K-4 travel to the homerooms of next year's teacher, and the 25 Book Club Pizza Party on Monday. As a reminder, Tuesday, June 14, is the final day of school for our students.

  • School supply kits through Teacher Tailored can now be purchased for the 2022-2023 school year through June 10 (this Friday!). Kits will be delivered to homes by August 12, and a portion of the sales goes to our Friends of Solomon School PTO. Check out the picture below for more information on ordering; or, if you prefer the old fashioned method, you can find every general education homeroom's supply list here (updated link) and then buy items individually.

  • Our COVID infection rate is going up across the city, and we are seeing it at Solomon as well. Currently we have 1 staff and 4 students quarantined due to positive tests, and we have 13 students quarantined as unvaccinated close contacts. Please, if your child is ill, keep them at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medication. The most recent community exposure letter, issued this past Wednesday, can be found here.
