Registration for new students starts this coming Monday, May 2, and is available everyday in our main office between 9:30-11:00 and 2:00-3:30. If these times aren't convenient for you, please give us a call at 773-534-5226 so that we can help identify a time. Registration paperwork can be found here, and you can find the documents you need for registration here. We are excited for new Cougars to join our family!

If you applied for Solomon (grades K-8 only) through the GoCPS process, we will be working through the waitlist over the next few weeks as we get registration underway. News and Updates
This week (May 2-6) is Staff Appreciation Week at Solomon! Use this coming week to show your appreciation for our amazing, hard-working staff that supports your child every day. Send in notes or pictures of gratitude all week, which can go directly to your child's teacher(s). If you have anything that you would like me or our office staff to distribute, we are happy to do that for you--please just bring those items to our main office any day between 8:45-4:30. If you would like to donate any lunches or snacks, please reach out to me ( or our main office (773-534-5226) so that we can help coordinate. Let's show our love this week!

By now, your child has heard a presentation from our 7th graders about their civics project with Our American Voice, focusing on supporting Chicago's refugee community. Inspired by the stories of Afghani and Ukrainian refugees, they have developed a plan to support our local refugee community through donations to the Exodus World Service organization. They have shared with all of our students what they've learned about refugees and how our efforts can help those in need. You can also see their letter to the community below. If you would like to donate, please send it in with your child this week. Our 7th graders will be presenting what they've learned at the annual Our American Voice conference on May 12. Way to go, Cougars--we are proud of you!

We are looking for volunteers for our next Scholastic Book Fair (May 16-20). If you are available to volunteer some time at our book fair that week, please complete this Scholastic Book Fair volunteer form.

Calling all alumni! I'm sharing a request from Sean Sy, Solomon graduate from 2005: "My name is Sean and I am an alumnus from the graduating class of 2005. Hannah G. Solomon Elementary has always had a special place in my heart. I opened this Facebook group in the early days of Facebook for my class to keep in touch but it slowly grew to be a community of Solomon Elementary alumni. The group's grown from a small number of my graduating class to over 500 members stemming from the first year of Solomon Elementary's opening. I am not as active anymore on Facebook and the community is truly wonderful. Photographs have been shared of the school, class photos from the early years of the school to today and I was looking to see if someone interested in administrating and taking over the group. Friends of Solomon School Parent Teacher Organization (FOSSPTO)
Our annual Walk, Jog, Roll-a-thon (WJR) fundraiser is returning this year on May 13. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for ADDITIONAL PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENTS to supplement what the 39th Ward will be providing and to strengthen our school community. We've asked our friends at Booster to power our fundraiser to make it more profitable, fun, and easy for everyone. If you haven't registered at yet, make that your first step!

If your family feels it is not in the position to financially support the school, that is okay. Families can support our school by also sharing information about our fundraiser with friends and family online. Sharing is supporting!

Current Homerooms Flipped to Remote and Return Dates
There are no homerooms in the flipped to remote protocol, as of April 30.

As of April 30, we have 2 students quarantined due to positive tests, 1 staff member quarantined due to positive tests, and 0 students quarantined as non-vaccinated or partially-vaccinated close contacts.

All close contacts have been contacted by Principal Gamble via email. Fully vaccinated and students with documented positive COVID tests in the past 90 days report for in-person learning.

For more information about programming that the district is hosting over our summer, please click here. When we have specifics about programming that we will offer at Solomon this summer, I will share with the whole community.

CPS students in 6th-12th grades have one more chance this school year to take advantage of FREE classes at the Chicago Industrial Arts and Design Center in Metalworking, Woodworking, Casting and CNC Technology and Design. All of our classes are related to career pathways in STEM, Trade and Art/Design. Our last Spring session begins May 9. Visit for more information.
