Dear Solomon Families--
Good morning, all. This morning it was announced that the agreement struck between the district and the Chicago Teachers Union has been ratified, so the return to in-person learning is imminent. For the official information from the district, please click here
In brief, students in our Pre-K and Cluster special education programs will return for in-person learning tomorrow, Thursday, February 11, for our regular school day. Transportation services will resume tomorrow as well. Please remember to complete your child's health screener tomorrow morning.
Our Kindergarten through 5th grade general education program students will return on March 1, with 6th-8th graders in our general education program returning on March 8.
The district is hosting a reopening town hall tonight with Mayor Lightfoot and district leadership, beginning at 6pm, at chicago.gov/live. If you have any questions you'd like to ask, please submit them in advance through this form.
In the meantime, as we prepare for our students' return:
- We are asking that students returning for in-person learning and their parents both complete "Cougar Pledges", in order to illustrate what we will need from everyone to have a successful re-entry. Please have your child return these (student and parent) on the first day of school.
- Below are step-by-step directions to get your child(ren)'s health screener form sent directly to your phone each day when in-person learning resumes.
This letter details changes in school-wide procedures due to COVID-19 for all in-person learners.
In the meantime, there are only 2 more days to vote in the 39th Ward Participatory Budgeting ballot, which includes 2 Solomon projects. See below for more information. Voting requires pre-registration, which we are hearing is a couple day process, and then voting itself closes on February 12. So pre-register today!
I am excited to see each of you in the near future. Thank you for your patience through this whole process.
Take care, and stay safe,
Hannah G. Solomon Elementary School
