Dear Solomon Families--

Thank you to the 30 or so families that joined us last evening for the re-opening town hall for parents of students in the Pre-K and diverse learner cluster programs. A recording of the event is available here.

I am asking families to complete a short survey regarding before- and after-school programming at Solomon this year. As you know, we have been able to offer Cross Country through the CPS Score program. We are also able to apply for a grant from Chicago Public Schools that would allow families to sign up for free before- and after-school programming led by Solomon staff. Known as OST ("Out-of-School Time"), we've had this grant the past 3 years, and we've been able to host a number of clubs and activities through it.

Different this year, of course, is that the programming would be virtual for now. Since we know that many families are looking for less, not more, screen time, I want to gauge your interest in this type of programming before proceeding. This survey also asks which particular types of programs would be of interest to your child.

Please complete this survey by Monday, November 2, to share your thoughts.

Last, thank you to those who have shared pictures of your child's spirit during Red Ribbon Week. Tomorrow is "athletic gear day" for the theme, "Living drug free, no sweat." If your child is particularly festive, please send a picture to me at crgamble@cps.edu so that I can share it with our community. Most exciting for students is the costume dress-up on Friday, October 30, so please be sure to share those pictures. If we get a lot of pictures, we will create a "virtual" parade that we can then share with the community!
