I would like to wish a Happy New Year to our whole community. We welcome students back to virtual class on Monday, January 4, at 9am. Please see below for additional re-opening updates.

School Re-opening Updates
  • As of now, our Pre-K and Cluster program students are scheduled to return to Solomon, 5 days a week, starting January 11, 2021.

  • With our Pre-K, Cluster, and Essentials staff returning to the building this week, the district has allowed that staff to use asynchronous time for additional time to prepare their classrooms for students. As a result, staff in those classrooms will communicate to parents any schedule changes for this week.

  • New Pre-K and Cluster schedules for students will be shared with parents no later than this Friday, January 8. These new schedules, which will go into effect January 11 with the shift to in-person learning, will illustrate the instructional day for both our remote and in-person learners.

  • We will host our next parent meeting, specific to Pre-K and Cluster student return, on Wednesday, January 6, at 5pm. The Google Meet code is meet.google.com/jdy-gccf-pnn. We will record this meeting as well.
  • With students preparing to re-enter the building, I want to remind parents of the daily health requirements. Parents will need to complete the health screener daily (cps.edu/healthscreener) in order for their child to enter the building. Students that fail the screening will not be permitted to attend school that day, and students that have not taken the screener will not be permitted to join their classmates until the screener is complete.

  • A link to all re-opening information from the district is available here, and a multi-page re-opening guidance document for parents is available here.

  • The district is hosting a series of meetings to address re-opening questions and concerns from the community. For more information, check out the list of events on the CPS Calendar page.
Applications for 2021-2022 School Year
January 8, 2021 is the NEW deadline for submitting applications on Go CPS, including our 8th graders applying for high school, Pre-Kindergarten students that live outside of our attendance boundaries and want to attend Solomon for Kindergarten, and any other non-Solomon students that live outside the attendance boundary and want to come to Solomon in grades K-8 in the 2021-2022 school year.

Student meals are available from the district on a grab-and-go basis. While Solomon is not a distribution site, neighboring schools Sauganash Elementary (6040 N. Kilpatrick) and Peterson Elementary (5510 N. Christiana) are both open daily between 8:00-1:00. For more information on the CPS Grab-and-Go Meal Sites, click here.
Solomon Spirit Wear
I am excited to announce that we have a new partner for Solomon spirit wear this year, SquadLocker. Great new gear--t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, shorts, polos, face masks...you name it. Peter the Cougar never looked so good. And, you can order at any time, and it will be delivered to your door. This replaces the once-a-year order that our staff and volunteers had previously organized in the building.

Click here to see what is available now, and be the first on your block to represent Solomon in our new gear!
To have your email address added to this distribution list, please complete this form.

Newsletters are also available via our website, solomon.cps.edu. Newsletters are sent out weekly, with the exception of holiday and summer breaks.

Questions or concerns? Contact the main office at (773) 534-5226 or email Principal Gamble at crgamble@cps.edu.
