Dear Solomon Family--

I hope that everyone enjoyed the warm, summery weekend. As a reminder, next weekend is Memorial Day weekend, and there is no school for students on Monday, May 31.

News and Notes
You can see a copy of the CPS schedule for 2021-2022 school year right here.

We are pleased to announce that we will be able to offer after-school programming once again during the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of hosting some summer programming at Solomon as well. One caveat to the summer programming is that it would have to be outside, due to construction beginning at Solomon in June 2021. Please provide feedback on what kind of programming, either summer or after-school, you would like to see us offer in this survey. Please respond by June 2. Thank you!

Congrats to our 7th graders and Ms. Liu for presenting their Community Action Project this past Thursday!

Registration for students that will be new to Solomon in grades K-8 next year will continue on Wednesdays between 10am-12pm and 1-3pm through June 23, and dates for summer registration will be shared shortly. Please come to Door #1 with your required documentation; for more information on what is required for registration, please click here. We are hearing that families who applied through the online application for non-neighborhood residents should be notified by the end of the month. Please share the word with families in our community!

Please take a moment and review the medical requirements for 2021-2022 school year by clicking here. Now is a good time to make those appointments for summer physicals!
In-Person Learning Reminders

  • Changes in protocols (entry, dismissal, lunch, etc.) are all detailed in this letter. Please review before returning to in-person learning.

  • The health screener needs to be taken for each student every day. If you are not receiving a personalized text, you can always complete the screener at cps.edu/healthscreener, and you will need to enter your child's CPS email address and birthdate.

  • If your child is feeling sick, PLEASE keep them at home for the safety of all students and staff. Students have the option to learn from home when they are not feeling well. If a student comes to school and exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, they will be sent to the care room and then picked up by a parent. Students who are sent home after being in the care room are required to provide a doctor's note or negative COVID test clearing them for return.

  • If you are looking to travel between now and the end of the school year, please review the district's travel guidance for families document.

  • Please review, print, sign, and return the student and parent Cougar Pledges. These behaviors will help keep our students and staff safe, and everyone contributes to our success!

Student meals are available from the district on a grab-and-go basis. While Solomon is not a distribution site, neighboring schools Sauganash Elementary (6040 N. Kilpatrick) and Peterson Elementary (5510 N. Christiana) are both open daily between 8:00-1:00. For more information on the CPS Grab-and-Go Meal Sites, click here.
Solomon Spirit Wear
I am excited to announce that we have a new partner for Solomon spirit wear this year, SquadLocker. Great new gear--t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, shorts, polos, face masks...you name it. Peter the Cougar never looked so good. And, you can order at any time, and it will be delivered to your door. This replaces the once-a-year order that our staff and volunteers had previously organized in the building.

Click here to see what is available now, and be the first on your block to represent Solomon in our new gear!
To have your email address added to this distribution list, please complete this form.

Newsletters are also available via our website, solomon.cps.edu. Newsletters are sent out weekly, with the exception of holiday and summer breaks.
