Dear Solomon Family--

We start Week 5 this week, so that is as good of an excuse to celebrate as any! Check out our flier for Solomon Spirit Week below.

On Friday, October 9, 5 Week Progress Reports will start to be sent out by the district. As a reminder, the progress report is a snapshot of where your child is at this point in the year. Between Aspen and Google Classroom, there are several tools that students can use to monitor their own work using their CPS login.

You can check out your child's grades right now on Aspen as well. If you are having any trouble with your Aspen account, please call our main office for assistance. We did see last year that there was a delay of a few weeks in getting the reports from the district, but you can always get instant access to grades for students in grades 1-8 at any time on Aspen.

Last, as a reminder, there is no school on Monday, October 12, as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day in Illinois.

In partnership,

Chris Gamble

It is vital that your child is in class on time and throughout the duration of the day. If technology is preventing your child from accessing class, please call the main office for assistance. If your child is going to be absent, we ask that you continue to follow routine attendance procedure by calling the main office (773-534-5226). An email is not considered a valid submission and will not be accepted to excuse an absence. When leaving a phone message for our main office on your child's absence, please include the following:
  1. Student first and last name
  2. The date of your child's absence
  3. If not a full day absence, the length of time for the absence

  5. Your full name (you must be listed as a parent or legal guardian in the student's records)
  6. Your contact number

  • To give us your feedback on the remote learning experience, we have created a parent survey (here) to help us hear your perspectives on remote learning so far.

The family income information form also known as a FIIF or Lunchroom form is a very important form that determines school funding. New this year!
I am excited to announce that we have a new partner for Solomon spirit wear this year, SquadLocker. Great new gear--t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, shorts, polos, face masks...you name it. Peter the Cougar never looked so good. And, you can order at any time, and it will be delivered to your door. This replaces the once-a-year order that our staff and volunteers had previously organized in the building.

Click here to see what is available now, and be the first on your block to represent Solomon in our new gear!
To have your email address added to this distribution list, please complete this form.
